Home for tour with Jimmy Eat World...

With Jim and our Plane.
So, we just got home from tour with Jimmy Eat World and it was an amazing time. Everyone on the tour was ridiculously cool. In Reno we all hit the blackjack tables but the cards were mad at all of us (except Paul of course) but it was still really fun. Our DJ set afterwards was really fun too (thanks XO bar), and our buddy Brian definitely got all the respect points for holding down the dance mixes. Hopefully we'll be doing more after party's so if you come to a show be sure to come talk to us to get the info on whats goin' down. I wanna thank Christina and Chelsea for lettin' us crash, we love you guys. Now comes the 40 hour drive to NY...sweet

new record
So, i honestly find it hard to believe than anyone gives a damn about what i have to say, who the hell am i? but i recently saw that many people's blogs are frequently read and it made sense in a strange way. With that said, we are working on a new record. We took time for the holidays and for Paul to wed the his amazing wife Sydney, and during that time we started to conceptualize a new record. Maybe i'm being too honest, or maybe i'm just drunk and it's 6:46 am but writing this record is taking alot outta me. i just want you (and by "you" i mean the people that honestly give a damn; if ur taking the time to read this than i assume that means you) to know that these songs are not made to be commodities. whether you like them or hate them, i want you to know where they came from so at least they can be deemed genuine. if there are any questions regarding the basis or theme or any lyric please ask. I'd love to answer it, if anyone gives a damn. if its on myspace make the header: to kyle. i dont check it that much but when i do i'll look for that. or just post it here.

im in mexico
Informers tell me to post on this thing because people enjoy reading the affaifs of others. I reply that it makes me feel pretentious which is why i've never cared too much for myspace. Anyways, i gave in, partially because i'm lonely and partially because my computer in PHX is dead and i cant write a story. i'm in Mexico visiting my family. It is amazing and horribly boring at the same time. Mexico is beautiful, and my mother and step-father are lovely people, but i wish there were someone to share the subtleties of this country. She exists but thousands of kilometers away. She exists but as a previous experience. I went on a boat ride that envolved bellydancers, a bagpipe player, and free margaritas that more resembled lemon-lime gatorade and tequila. She would have loved it. I spent the rest of my night at an old couples restaurant drinking a bottle of pinot noir to myself, they played sinatra (sp?) i wished she were there. Once again, i dont know why i posted this, so if it didn't interest you i apologise.

Xmas Party...!
So, Patrick and I made the greuling trek from Phoenix to Nebraska the other day. What blew our minds was that within 1 hour of our trip we were already seeing snow/sleet/ice/rain...all that crap! We knew that this was only a little bit of what was to come. Patrick is a driving MACHINE! Straight through he drove through the snow, the ice, and the bitter potential of destruction. But it did not come. I remember one instance in a shitty truck stop in Western NE where Pat talked about his future in truck driving. He wanted to become a professional truck driver that dresses suave. You know...like suits and shit. A scrawny lil 140 lb. tight-dressin' ladies-man driving TRUCKS! He said, "I'll get all the ladies this way." I replied..."Dude, what ladies are waiting in line for truck drivers?"
"Well, there aren't any yet...but there will be!"
"Okay, okay, I feel ya," I agreed that this was indeed a possible reality in the years to come in the life of Patrick McFly. So the trip started off well. We left only a half hour later than we shot for which is actually very shocking. Ate Del Taco within 30 min. of the trip during a lil refueling break. Then, like I stated before, the bitter cold of the winter reared it's ugly head. I finished a delicious book (it's actually Stephen's, but I stole it...I'll return it though; I promise!) called "Killing Yourself to Live." I forget the author. Sorry. I probably slept after that. We had very very little funds. In fact, we didn't even think we'd make it back with the money that we did have. I offered, as a last resort, to write a bad check. Luckily we didn't have to resort to that...but damn it was close. So anyway...driving=excessive smoking. We were like crack addicts but with discipline. We timed out our cigarette celebrations. This didn't last long. The first pack was gone before we got out of Arizona. Shitty. Then we probably got lost shortly after this nap that I was talking about. I remember waking up in the late evening at a Shell in bum-fuck Egypt. My eyes were hurting. I conluded that this was most likely due to me wearing my contacts non-stop for the last 3 weeks. Not good. So I took 'em out and was convinced that my left eye was going blind. Seriously...it was on fire, and i couldn't even open it. Pat got me Visine. He's a sweet-heart. That was maybe the highlight of the trip so far, despite the shitty circumstances. We got lost on a circular interstate in Colorado somewhere in the middle of the night. We went into numerous gas stations to steal glances at maps, but we think we actually went the wrong way and went full-circle around a mountain and ended up at one of those same gas stations. Twilight Zone shit goin on. FInally we were on the right track to NE. Pat scored a Buy 1 get 1 Camel deal at the shittiest exit off the freeway on the planet. But, it wasn't so shitty this time. Eventually We arrived in Wahoo, NE. This was the meeting place for my father to pick me up and take me to my hometown of WP. Pat then had about 24 hours to soak up NE and enjoy NOT being in a car before he left again on a 15 hour voyage to Ohio for a family vacation.
In conclusion, we ate Peanut Butter sandwiches, Chico-Stix, Peanuts, Fritos, Salt & Pepper Chips, Cookies, and drank Coke and Water. We listened to These Arms, Cursive, Radiohead, Deerhoof, Massive Attack, 16-Horsepower, Beck, The Bled, Bloc Party, Refused, Dane Cook, ETID, Evaline as well as others I'm sure.
Our Journey was a memorable one. Good and Bad. But in one month we'll do it all over again, but this time we have Phoenix to look forward to at the end of the road. Ve' Nice!

This is the most fun i've had on tour
This is Kyle. This tour with The Valley Arena and Brilliant Red Lights has been ridiculously fun. It's amazing to want to watch their sets every night and wander the cities with them. Brilliant Red Lights took us to a dance club in Sacramento and I sort of remembered why tour was fun. It used to be: drive, set up, play (the happy part of the day), tear down, sleep, repeat. We would crash in parking lots and Wal-Mart became exciting. This tour in my Corolla and a pick up has been an adventure and the people are amazing. The only happiness doesn't come solely from playing now, it's also the people around us. It feels like the coffee shop tours we started out doing and i love it. I want to thank everyone who requested a song and every person kind enough to let us sleep on their floor or feed us. It means everything to us.

Is Food Really What It's All About?
It's around noon right now, and I woke up about an hour or two ago. I'm starving. I'm usually starving around this time. I had some salted peanuts, and two granola bars waiting for me in the cupboard as of yesterday, but decided to devour them before I went to bed. Therefore, I'm stuck here on the couch with no food, but the burning desire to get up off of my ass and walk somewhere to get some with a gigantic Coffee on the side. Sounds delightful! I ate at Pita Jungle yesterday with Paul (Kyle was supposed to make it down to enjoy with us, but fell asleep and made other plans because he hates us), and it was somewhat sub-par. I do thouroughly enjoy the cilantro-jalepeno hummus, but the Pita Burrito was a bad choice I feel. It was very messy, and after the appetizer was in my belly I really didn't feel like eating this anymore. It wasn't a hunger thing any more, or a "do I have room?" issue...it was just that it didn't look fantastic which I'm surprised at. Pita Jungle makes everything look fantastic...right? Well, needless to say, this bad menu choice will not get me down. I will make my return to the Jungle that is Pita someday soon and enjoy a new item of choice off of the menu.
On another note, I've decided that drinking insane amounts of water everyday would be delicious...therefore I shall drink 2-3 gallons of water everyday. 2 is dee-lish...but 3 can get to be a lil too much, especially if you haven't eaten much.
I may make some potatoes today. Why? Cuz that is all I own when it comes to Food. I guess I also have some avocados and some fresh pico...that sounds delicious, but then again I eat too much fresh Mexican.
The Stiletto Formal may make a cooking show in the very near future, just to give you a heads up. It will be epic! We're in talks with the Food Network as we speak. Or just YouTube...
Cheers!
